Biomass is organic material either directly from plants and animals or indirectly from industrial, commercial, domestic, and agricultural products.

 

In a huge mass of organic material, a large amount of agro-industrial waste comes forth, that is unused natural, industrial and household organic waste.

 

 
  • Agriculture: vegetable crop residues (husk, straw …)
  • Animal industry: slaughterhouse waste, bone meal, dead animals, poultry manure
  • Forestry: forest residues, wood waste
  • Fishery: cannery waste, bone meal, dead fish
  • Industrial and household organic waste: sewage, organic waste, food waste, waste paper.

 

 

Agricultural waste is an excellent source of renewable energy. Through pyrolysis, we get eco-friendly energy from this biomass.

 

Pyrolysis is the first stage of thermal decomposition of wood. The familiar tongues of flame on burning wood are caused by the combustion of the gases (the volatile products of pyrolysis) rather than by combustion of the carbon of wood itself.

During pyrolysis of wood (450°C-500°C), a lot of different substances are formed. The highest concentrations in gaseous pyrolysis products are: methyl alcohol, (therefore, methanol is called obsolete "wood alcohol"), acetic acid, acetone, benzene, furan, etc.

The non-volatile products of incomplete pyrolysis are liquid and pasty resins. The final product of complete pyrolysis of wood is almost pure carbon with a small content of mineral components - charcoal.

 

The generated volume of electricity depends on the initial moisture content of the biomass feedstock. Biomass (wood, straw, poultry and paper waste, etc.) is a renewable energy source. Biomass is pyrolyzed and then the pyrolysis gas is used to generate electricity.

 

Carbon residue (semi-coke) obtained after processing straw, wood waste and poultry farms waste can be further gasified, thus increasing the volume of electricity generated. It can also be used as a fertilizer for soil remediation or as various fillers.
