Recycling of agricultural waste
(on the example of rice husks)
More than 60 countries are involved in rice cultivation, with an annual rice harvest about 100 million tonnes. An average of 10 kg of rice husks is accumulated during the recycling of every 50 kg of raw rice. Thus, with an annual harvest of 1 million tonnes, 200,000 tonnes of rice husks are produced.

The purpose of pyrolysis treatment is to obtain a mixture of amorphous silicon dioxide and carbon from rice husks. During fast pyrolysis, volatile products are separated from the rice husk and condensed then into liquid fuel.

The recycling of rice husks allows to obtain such components as silicon dioxide (silica, silicon anhydride) SiO2, silicon chloride SiCl4, silicon carbide (carborundum) SiC, silicon nitride (tri-silicon tetranitride) Si3N4
These components are used in the production of a wide range of goods for various purposes.
